I think the difference is in actual payload of the truck, not the tow rating

Never thought about that. Would have to use an adapter which is a no no I thought with torque wrenches.

It would take more than one, in my case it would have to go from 1/4 to 3/4 drive, 1/4 to 3/8 to 1/2 to 3/4 , 18 in-lbs is finger tight.

You can use adapters with a torque wrench as long as you don't change the distance between the end of the handle and the center point of the socket. Adding extensions is okay, adding offset adapters, crowsfeet, etc is not.

Has to do with payload or in this case tonque weight. The truck can hold it but the motor can't pull it.

Re: using extensions with a torque wrench.
When you're dealing with only inch pounds or less than 50 ft lbs, you can get by with up to a 6" extension. Beyond that and you start seeing torsional twist in the extension that will throw off your torque reading.

Be that as it may, I would rather have wheel bearings just a tad loose than a tad tight. Too tight and you generate too much heat and you also force much of the lubricant out of the bearing.
I use a channel lock pliers, get the bearing "snug" to force out excess grease, then back off one flat or less to the point where I can lock it down with a cotter pin.

20k miles on my 6.2

So I signed up just for this thread. I currently have 19,800 something miles on my 2018 f250 6.2 with 4.30s. This is my everyday work truck and very rarely doesnt have a trailer, maybe 2000 miles of its life with no trailer. Trailer on average weighs in right around 14,000 pounds. Truck tows like a dream and with trailer brakes has no problem stopping. avg 8 mpg. Will see how long she can handle it.

I have yet to tow anything with my new truck. Have 6.2 with 4.30s and it is definitely NOT a hot rod. Seems like a turtle compared to my old dodge with a 5.9 cummins. Extremely nice truck, far superior to the dodge in that respect, but I am amazed at the general lack of power it seems to have. I am almost afraid to hook up to my 9k fifth wheel trailer. I think that if I was really towing 9 to 10k+ a lot, I would definitely have to have a diesel absolutely. And I think the 6.2 has to have the 4.30s to be useful at all. Love the truck, it is awesome, but the power, well it really seems like a total slug to me. Kind of scary trying to get on a freeway and merge with traffic running 80, I feel like I will get run over because the truck just doesn't get after it at all. Having to learn to change my driving habits LOL. I used to be able to do whatever I wanted to, but with this truck I am finding out I better just cool it because I don't have the power to drive like I used to. With my dodge, I hit the throttle, boost slammed 60 psi RIGHT NOW, and that truck felt like the front end was lifting. Hit 80 almost instantaneously. Of course towing with the cummins was a complete non-issue. Just put its shoulders into it and pulled like bull. Really apprehensive about trying to pull any more than my boat with this truck. Wish I could have this truck with my 5.9 cummins in it. THAT would be over the top.

I rarely tow my fifth wheel, and my poling skiff total weight boat motor trailer is under 1200 lbs so this truck can handle that OK. I hope so anyway. Kind of like a bigger F150 really. Damn the enviro-**** *******s that have ruined modern diesels. I so miss my old 5.9 cummins. I will just have to learn to live with it accept the fact that it has no power at all. How anyone could possibly tow anything more than a couple thousand with these things is beyond me.

Laugh

Yeah pretty funny. About $63k funny. Oh well if I can get rid of fifth wheel trailer I will not need to tow heavy and it will be OK. Super nice truck, didnt think I would miss diesel so much. It's one thing to say I dont NEED a diesel. It's another thing to say I dont WANT a diesel. Dont want the emissions and cost, definitely want the power and torque. Will just adjust to the gasser and go on. Maybe should have waited to see how the 7.3 with 10 sp transmission works out.

You need to put your foot into it man. You have trouble merging into 80mph traffic empty with 4.30? Maybe something is wrong with your truck? 60psi boost on your old cummins? Cool.

Before I got my 5 star tune i also thought it was slow because of initial throttle tip in. It is much better now with the tune.

There has to be something wrong with the truck above. I agree it is not a highly tuned diesel, but it accelerates pretty damn fast. It gets up to speed in a hurry if you let it wind up. 0 to 60 times ate just barely behind the 6.7

Must have dual turbos, my old 03 ram only ever hit 20-23 psi at full all out throttle.

As far a power, I haven't pulled my 5vr yet but she has towed a 6k enclosed and on some decent hills I was pulling away from traffic is 4th gear. Peaked out around 80 before I realized.

You either posted this to get a rise or you are driving with your parking brake on! My 6.2 with 4.30s will cook the tires if I wanted it to. Granted, it is no diesel but it does great for what it is intended for. I've pulled up to 14,000 lbs with mine, you just have to put your foot into it and keep it revved up on hills.
