Internet rants and crying wolf, I take it back, your not as rude.....you are much worse. So you had nothing useful to say, just wanted to belittle me? How insecure and condescending. Had been waiting patiently for Ford to repair an issue on a recall and was wondering if anyone had heard anything. Thats why I started this post. You haven't gotten the notice and don't know anything about it.....so why are you responding at all? Again, thanks for your help.
I see you added some text. Good luck getting all the help you need, wherever you are.
You are welcome.
Apparently not. I see you added this to your two previous posts. Pretty much proves my point. You didn't get the recall, know nothing about it and yet you still keep coming back. Lol. Sad little man.

Well, bless your heart.
And with every post you make, you prove mine...you are your own worst obstacle with how you deal with people.
If you would go back and actually read what I wrote, especially when I wasn't casting aspersions, you may come away with a different perspective.
I can imagine what a gem you are at the dealer..I wouldn't want you as a customer either. I'll let you continue & have the last word....you clearly have me at a disadvantage in an idiotic argument.
Wow,
glad our 75k mile 13 sport is holding up so well that we bought it at the end of our lease - sorry to hear of your issues.
Just out an rv park and people next to us had a nice looking Ford Excursion that was the pitting image of one of the three we had... BUT it was a 2000 that he said just rolled over 400,000 miles and he says it just won't break!
Just chatted with a Ford Customer Service Representative. They said no firm eta on parts but it is estimated they will be available by December of this year.
I mentioned that does not seem reasonable and that since this recall affects such a small number of vehicles, surely there are trail links available if one breaks on one of the non-affected vehicles. I was told they understand my concern but until parts become available repairs cannot be completed.
I asked if my trail links had broken back in April when this recall came out if my vehicle would still be sitting at the dealership waiting for parts? Or if we took the vehicle cross country and they broke, what would happen? I was told they could not speculate on hypothetical situations but would document my concerns as feedback regarding the recall.
I can only say I'm grateful we have other vehicles to drive but will be looking into other remedies.
One of the things that got me was the OP's comment about the rotten egg smell. You're dumping gobs of fuel and air through an Ecoboost pushing a 4600lbs vehicle. That's the catalytic converter doing it's job. My SHO's did/do the same thing.
As for build quality, my 2013 Taurus SHO and 2016 SHO were both produced I believe on the same assembly line as the Explorer Sport, and I can easily say both cars have been almost flawless - well, except for the nasty half-shaft recall that my 2013 had and exhibited. The axle shaft started to come out of the tranny 6 months after the recall was announced.
But anyway, I understand your frustration. Sorry to hear about your troubles, and that Ford can't get the parts to you.
You've tried both Customer Service and the dealer you bought/leased the vehicle from?

Yes spoke with the dealer service manager yesterday as well. He gives me the same story Ford does. I am taking the vehicle in to have them look at the trail links. I don't want something to happen and have Ford tell me "well you knew there was a problem and you drove it anyway". I figure this will put it back on them. If the toe links are cracked then this may push them to come up with a fix and if they are alright at least I have a little piece of mind knowing they have been checked.
The rotten egg smell on acceleration, I read in another post, is caused by a stuck exhaust flapper? Another poster on this forum said he got it fixed. Seems like if it was the cat if would have always done it.

Reason: additional info
The rotten egg smell, that's weird. Never heard of an "exhaust flapper" in the SHO, but I definitely smell it after I run it hard. It's what catalytic converters do - convert unburned hydrocarbons to sulfur dioxide and water, mostly.
Maybe it's running rich under acceleration, more than it needs to.
Seven months ago we heard about a recall for our 2014 Ford Explorer Sport because of cracked or broken trail links in the rear. The recall stated this could result in loss of control of the vehicle. Then in June we finally got a letter from Ford, saying they were making the parts and would let us know when to contact our dealer for repair. Called Ford 2-3 months ago to inquire about an eta on the parts and they said parts should be made sometime during the 3rd quarter (July/August/September). They didn't seem to be the least concerned and were actually quite rude. Well here we are in October, still waiting for parts to be made to have a serious defect fixed in the suspension of our Sport. After reading the letter my wife was almost afraid to drive the vehicle. Between the sync going out occasionally (where you lose radio, bluetooth and nav, but not at a dealer so they can fix it, and the rotten egg smell after hard acceleration, I guess that,s why we have a 2 year old, this month, 2014 Explorer with only 9k miles on it. Anyone hear anything? My wife and I have been lifelong Ford buyers, but this is making us question our loyalty.

Hey CaliforniaKid,
I got your PM from earlier today and responded. Please send back the requested information as soon as you're able to, and I'll see how I can help turn this around.

Done. Sorry, just got back, we were out of town. Thanks for your help.
Taking it in to our dealer Thursday to have the toe links inspected and to have them try to find the cause of the rotten egg smell. The smell is inconsistent and I have a hard time replicating on demand. Got in the vehicle the other day and after trying a number of combinations, with the climate control on in front and in back, recirculate on, during hard acceleration the smell was present. Took it off recirculate and aired out the vehicle and tried it again under the same conditions and no smell??? I think when the problem originally reared it's ugly head, I had four adults in it, A/C on, probably at Max, rear climate control on with all rear vents open, accelerating from near stop into traffic. Hard to reduplicate now. But I'll keep trying before I take it in. Anyone else? When does yours do it. What are the conditions and maybe we can narrow this down?
Took it in yesterday. Had them inspect the toe links and at this time, no problems. But it amazes me they have no idea what we would do if one broke. Since no parts are available. The rotten egg smell they couldn't duplicate. Probably gonna have to wait till summer and get it to do it consistently for them to fix. At least it wasn't a complete waste of a trip. Got the oil changed and tires rotated while it was there. And believe it or not, we do really like the vehicle.
The rotten egg smell is when you get on it, it's the smell that's made when you dump excessive amounts of exhaust into the catalytic converter. It's probably getting into the cabin through the fresh air vents in the rear of the vehicle. Our platinum does this every single time I nail it really hard on the freeway or leaving a stop light.
