Need help with a few v10 questions

Hi everyone I just joined today and have few questions. I'm new to the modular type motor family I've always owned old bronco's. I was wondering if coils for a 5.4 would work for my v10? I'm hoping they will I can get a good deal on some but there listed for a 5.4. Also does anyone have any spark plug preferences? I've heard you need to be picky on which ones for these like only use the motor craft ones or something? Anyone know the part number or something so I get the right one? And what do I torque them down to? I've seen both 11lbs 14lbs so far. Thanks for any help I love this truck i got and would love to give her a tune up. Thanks- Kyle

Try getting on a site like rockauto.com and plug in your trucks information ton get the part number for the coils and then do the same for the 5.4, chances are the part numbers will be the same. I sold my 2004 V10 super duty with 66,000 on it so I never changed the plugs, but depending on your year, there is a specific removal sequence to avoid thread damage to the head. Do a search on here and it is posted somewhere. Sorry I don't remember what it is but a little research will help prevent damaging the head!! Good luck.

The coils are the same at least if they are for the same headed motor so if you are looking at coils for a 2 valve v8 and you have a 2 valve v10 they are the same your going to have to check part numbers between 2 and 3 valve coils though. Also denso makes the oe coils for ford they will be the same coil as the motorcraft would for less $ I would only use motorcraft or denso coils though or your going to be buying again there is also no reason to change coils unless you have a bad one if you want to throw away your money you can send it to me no checks please. you don't say what year truck your talking about. That will make a difference in the torque of the plugs and possibly also the removal. For plugs motorcraft all the the way they're less than $3.00 a piece and they work no reason to use anything else.

The are the same, the denso coils are $22 bucks a piece on rock auto. Saved me roughly $330 vs my local Napa store.

eBay has coils for $8.00 buck each work as well as rockauto I have bought both ... I only use motorcraft plugs .... the trick to the removal of these plugs is to soak soak soak soak the plug with liquid wrench for several days prior to removal and torque at 9 to 11 if you are your wrench is more accurate then your probably Jesus and don't really need to ask us anyway
