One of the differences between Abe's and the '48-'52 kit on Ebay is the nozzle. It looks like Abe's is on the hood and the '48-'52 is in the center of the cowl between the windshield rubber and cowl vent.

It appears to me you have the pump and reservoir bracket installed. That ebay price is insane.
Whoa, there is no way I even thought of buying the one on eBay. All I need is the jar (and the tubing) and I don't care if it isn't the original jar. I thought of using a Mason jar even a plastic milk jug but was hoping for something rectangular since the bracket is rectangular.

Ray, or anyone, what is the science behind the washer? I imagine the foot pedal operates the diaphragm, that pushes a burst of air into the bottle thru one tube and then water is pushed thru the other tube which goes to the nozzle. Is that correct?

Yes, it does look like spray nozzles come up thru the cowl in the one on eBay.

After blowing up the picture of the jar on eBay it does look like a large Mason jar. I'll have to go down to the basement and look at our mason jars. I'll have to figure a way to keep the lid airtight where the tubes pass through.

I doubt they pushed air into the bottle as it would take an increasing amount of pushes to pressurize as the fluid level dropped (not to mention having to also compress the air while the nozzle remains open, preventing pressure build-up.) Isn't there two nipples on the foot pump?

Remember old, rectangular gallon milk bottles? Would one of those fit?

Just post something that is wrong and Number Dummy will appear! He knows all about all Fords. I do remember seeing mason jars used for some old car or truck's windshield washer, but I have no memory what it was on.

Ok guys, it is 9:30 pm and I just went out to measure my washer bottle bracket. It measures about 4.75 x 4.50. A bottle would need to be 8" tall or less to fit in the space.

I went to our basement pantry and found that Mason jars measure just a bit more than 3.50 x 3.50.
The black diaphragm has only one nipple on it.

So, how did the foot pedal force water through the tube to the nozzle on the hood?

My search is over! Duh! I looked in my Mid Fifty catalog and it was there. You can buy the whole kit, just the jar, just the jar lid, etc!

Here is the on line catalog url:
Search Results - Mid Fifty F-100 Parts

Thank you all for the help. It was an interesting discussion.
And here is my new credo:
"If in doubt check MidFifty first!"

Well, I'll be. You can even by the "see-clear" decal.
Good deal! That's a little cheaper than that NOS on ebay.
Interesting, the price of the jar went up $2 from the 2016 catalog to what's online.

Of course, I just bought a battery for my daily driver. I about had to take a loan out for it. Crazy.

The problem with the jars is that they break. Ford went to a heavy duty plastic bag I think in the late 1950s. One of the NOS kits was just sold on the first Little Dearborn auction on Proxibid. I just tried to find it but they have taken down all the auction results.

Shows-to-go-ya that the Ford references don't always hold the answers. I guess it stands to reason that the repop market would step up on parts that are exposed to breakage. Glad you figured it out. Stu

Correct, it was 1956 that they went to the bag according to Mid Fifty and our resident 1956 expert Kevin BigWin. On the MidFifty website that I posted if you click on the bag washer unit they have a copy of an NOS instruction sheet telling dealers where to mount the bag. It is mounted on the driver's side inner fender.

I found a poor picture of the Little Dearborn NOS W/S washer kit.

And here is a pictures from another Grafe auction that shows the difference between the OE bag and the Ford accessories bag (See Clear).

Sorry Abe, I didn't see your thread until a few minutes ago.

BA-17618-A (replaced 8C-17618) .. Windshield Washer Reservoir (Glass Jar) / Obsolete

1948/55 Trucks except School Bus and Parcel Delivery / 1949/54 FoMoCo Passenger Cars.

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

1940's/50's GM vehicles & Packard used similar jars, but I don't know if they're the same dimensions as BA-17618-A

See pic below: Tee (17615), Lid (17616) & Pump (17664) same as 1949/54 cars.

No pic in the truck parts catalog, so here's a pic (upper) from the car parts catalog:

So, the check valves are in 17615. Placing them there saved the 12 cents of running a second hose to the pump - good thinking! ;-)
