Hard shifts, but not under hard acceleration.

I've pored over the forums, looking at all the e4od problems, but mine seems different.
It is a 93 f150, 2wd, and like I said, e4od. It shifts with a jump and a bump at each shift point, but it still shifts at the proper rpm. However, under hard acceleration it shifts very smoothly.
Fluid reads within the hashmarks on the dipstick, not burnt, looks good and red.
I have not yet read any codes, but the issue seems different than other common diagnoses. Is it possible that I am suffering from a PO's shift kit?

It's possible you have a shift kit, or a throttle position sensor issue, or maybe an EPC wiring issue.

Start by pulling codes.

I will pull codes.
Tomorrow.
But in the meantime, I must say that I have heard a similar situation in my latest research, and the problem was broken springs in the accumulator valve body. Can I take it off without removing the transmission? I'm already going to drop the pan for the fluid change.

Ok, guys; thanks for sharing your expertise. I will now share my experience.
You said to pull codes, so I did. It is important to make sure it reaches operating temperature! ! If you can't do that (say, because the radiator cap doesn't seal and half your coolant is gone) the codes will be rife with thermal measurement failures.
With a full radiator and a new cap, I tested again. Solenoid management error. You guys said that the connection should be checked. I had to change the oil anyway, so while I was getting that done, I flamingoed my arm up over the exhaust and pulled the plug and blew lots of dust out of it. I plugged it back in and tested again. Now both KOEO and KOER tests show 111's!
Oh, and also, the trans has been transformed back into a normal slushbox. Wheee! Might be checking into a shift improver next...I'm never happy enough.

Likely a connection error to the pressure control solenoid causing hard shifts.
