A few years back, I helped on an E4OD to ZF5 conversion that went well in a SBF truck, so I'm considering the same conversion in my truck. I've got a '95 F250 4x4 7.5 E4OD. I also have a complete donor truck, a '92 F250 4x4 7.3 ZF5.

I've read some threads about putting a 460 ZF5 behind a 7.3, but I'm considering the opposite...putting the 7.3 ZF5 behind a 460. I haven't found any threads on that (perhaps for a reason). Has anyone done this?

I haven't pulled the 7.3 trans yet, but from what I've read, the diameter of the bolt holes in the bell housing is larger on the 7.3 and possibly spaced slightly different. Can this be accomplished with some mill work and some bushings, or not possible? I have access to a full scale machine shop, but if the machine work is extensive it may be easier to find a 460 trans and I can still use all the other components from my donor truck (i.e. drive shafts, pedals, etc.).
