Finding the right wires is the hardest part. I found the easiest way to identify them was by looking at the lock motor in the door then finding those wires in the B pillar.

I have a clamp on meter, so hopefully that helps as I can do trial and error without sticking wires with a test light.

My Pop and Lock will be here today. Not sure when I'll get it in though.

Unfortunately a clamp meter will only work for AC current, so it's not gonna be useful here.

Oh man, didn't even think of that! Guess I do need a test light. At least in the kick panel, you can easily get to the pins of the connectors for testing.

They make clamp on DC amp meters.
Fluke is the top dog. But even the not so top ones are not cheap.
Plus you only have a pulse and that makes it harder to read do to
the speed of the DAC in the meter.

I'll use a light since I can probe the metal connector and not have to stab the wire. From looking at a post of portholes in another thread, I'm pretty confident I know what wires I want. And it looks like the instructions from Pop and Lock were updated, as they match the colors we've been talking about.

Thanks good about the wire colors matching. The pulse is very short, it may be difficult to see on a test light.

Not quite true. Most of them are but if you pay the money you can get a DC one, my Fluke does DC also.

Just updating some threads with a status. I got my PopNLock fully installed this past weekend. In a word, AWESOME! I already had the actuator in the tailgate, from earlier this year, but I ran the wires under the truck, into the cab, and then connected on the back of the large connector at the passenger side kick panel. Fantastic!

My kit is still in the original packaging. Maybe this fall when the weather cools down I will be more motivated to install it. Thanks for the pic I'm sure I will need it for reference.

Thanks for that image!

Finally installed my kit. If it wasn't for that image I wouldn't have known which bundle to search for the correct wires.

Also, anyone doing this on a 2016 there are two grey wires with a tan stripe in that bundle of wires behind the passenger kick panel. One is larger than the other. The smaller wire is the correct one.

Grey/with tan stripe > Green wire to pop&lock
Purple/with grey stipe > Blue wire to pop&lock

Nice job. Amazing little add on isn't it? I can't believe Ford never put this in the trucks until 2017! I love having mine...So far so good too.
