05 air in power steering...

Hey All, I recently replaced the power steering pump and both lines but I just can't seem to get the air out of the system. Anyone else had this issue? Maybe a solution?

normally you crank the wheel all the way to the left till the pump runs over relief and hold for 2 seconds, then run all the way to the right till the pump runs over relief and hold for 2 seconds, then back left... etc... normally 3-4 cycles will get all the air out... check tank level after 2 cycles and make sure you are still full.

I just replaced my power steering hoses and lines. I had no problem getting the air out. Maybe air is being sucked in by a bad pump seal? Just a guess.

I've never had any trouble getting air out like this, I did turn it back and forth multiple times but I just seem to not be able to get rid of it.

I think it would leak fluid before suck in air, but anything is possible I guess...

Air must be being sucked in somewhere on the pump. Let it sit and then look for signs of weeping. Try removing the reservoir cap and see if you can pressurize it - inspect pump for weeping.

I'll look for some weeping, there's usually some pressure on it whenever I remove the cap

Make sure the reservoir hose is so tight that you can not twist it. If it can be twisted, replace clamp and/or hose.

I will check that next clear weather we have, I did have the hose off so it may need a new clamp....
