I love looking at these parking lot pictures. It's interesting to see how many cars I can identify and see if there are any cars my parents or relatives had.
Back in that day people kept there car windows open since they had no AC and you trusted no one would steal anything.
How about the 60ish Corvair next to the big finned Caddy!

When Tom McCahill road tested the Pontiac, he noticed the right/left grille/bumper arrangement nestled into the front sheet metal.
"Yuck, looks like it was born on its nose!"
The SDC (studebakerdriversclub.com) forum has a thread titled Studes in Roadside Americana Photos.
It's like this thread...parking lots and street scenes featuring old rolling piles of misery.

The car to the left of the Corvair is a "born on its nose" 1955 Pontiac.

Thanks for the mention of this Bill. I’m about 10% of the way through the 230+ pages and now know what the term CASO means. I just finished up helping an E13 Napco guy find his wheels and tires and he used the term in an email. I had known that Studebaker guys have a reputation for frugality. Stu

Abe,
Here in New Mexico I didn't start rolling my windows up and taking my keys out of the ignition until the late 1980's. Now-a-days (well up until this year) Albuquerque has been rated the car theft capital of the country. Just his year Anchorage, Alaska beat us out of the title.
I miss the old days
