Hello everyone.
First, I'd like to say thanks, as I've been stalking several of these threads here for the past week, trying to figure out my AOD problems and other issues, and you all have been very helpful, even for a lurking reader. So, thank you, and now I've joined your ranks.
I inherited this truck from my dad, Roy, who passed away in August. He loved this old truck, and I've been doing my best to fix it up. So far I've replaced the power window motors, the battery and cables, some of the wiring for exterior lights (CLPs, signals, brakes), light fixtures and bulbs, and the Oil Pressure Sending Unit.
Then the AOD transmission started acting up. First, it just slipped out of gear into neutral, twice, and at low speeds. I immediately checked and topped off the fluid with the required type, but it did it again, so (thanks to chatter on this site) went ahead and replaced the transmission filter, gasket, and put in new fluid, to the tune of about 80 bucks. That seemed to solve the problem, but the following day, on my way home from work it started slipping again, this time at around 35-40 mph, and go into neutral, or rev high, as if the Overdrive wasn't kicking in. I read more on this site, and spent today and yesterday tackling the TV Cable adjustment. I've read every post I can find on here about how to do it, and nothing seems to be fixing the problem. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how likely it is that the Overdrive Band is burned out? Think it's time for a rebuild (about $2000 at a shop), replace (unknown $), or replace with a C-6 (haven't read all the threads on that yet). Any thoughts?
