New Dana axles

Does anybody know anything about the Dane 275 and Dana 300 axles? Do the 275 trucks use bigger u joints and drive shafts than the 10.5 trucks? Are they actual new axles or just new names for say Dana 80's or 110's?

There is very little out there on the net about them. They are entirely new but the odd thing is they came out a few years back, have not been implemented anywhere that I can see until now, and their key advertising point based on the one info release I found is improved fuel mileage. This is due to the way the gears mesh and the size of the mating surfaces. Nothing in the press release I found mention increased strength but maybe that's supposed to be implied.

I heard the ford engineer talking about some of the weight savings they put back into the truck was bigger ring and pinion in these axles, also to get the weight and tow ratings.

Well, if they caused the new GAWR on the SRW's, they can have them back.

The SRW F250 still retains the Sterling axle used in the past.
The SRW F350 uses the Dana M275 with an axle diameter of 1.47"
The DRW F350 uses a Dana M300 with an axle diameter of 1.47"
The DRW 450 uses a Dana M300 with an axle diameter of 1.85.

These axles are heavier duty overall and use fewer moving parts and are more fuel efficient than the previous Sterling Axles.

17 Oaks's link has a picture of something that looks exactly what I saw in a recent video of under the truck footage (guy drove over the camera.) The driveshaft was turning and connected to that exact thing in the back. So he may be on to something. Same shape, same fins. The video was posted here but I don't remember which one.

It has larger axle shafts than the 10.5. The 275 shafts are 36 splined, 1.43 Minor spline diameter and 1.54 major. The Sterling has 35 splines and is 1.36 minor and 1.50 major. The 10.5 has 3.5 inch tubes while the 275 has 4 inch tubes. Sterling holds 7 quarts of lube while the Dana holds 7.2

I've been trying to track down some info on the Dana M275 which will apparently come under the rear of a '17 F350 4x4 CC KR I'm configuring for order soon... Do you know if/when 4.10's will be available for this axle and if/when ARB will offer an Air Locker for it by any chance...? I can't find any info on this axle on the Dana nor ARB websites...

These folks will prob know long before it hits the news items.

https://www.dynatrac.com

I know the owner Jim, he mods Ford Dana's and does a lot of custom work for Ford and Chrysler, they know more about Dana than Dana does...Most likely its a bit early for any announcements as it takes a while to build the new gear and before that happens there has to be at least a perceived sales opportunity.

I'd bet money Dana has made 4.10's for it at some point during development. It's been out for a couple years and Dana has surely been shopping it to manufacturers. 4.10 is too commonly used not to have made one. Wouldn't hold my breath on the ARB anytime soon since an electronic locker is already available for 3.33 and 3.55. Don't know where the carrier break is but I bet they made one for 4.10 too.
