Valve cover gasket time

Thank you for the reply. A few months ago I started having a misfire and thought it was injectors. Well, I bought a AUTO ENGINUITY scanner, found bad burnt valve cover gaskets and connectors on the right rear. Would you happen to have a part number for the dormans or a link for the conversion? I'm pretty dang sure I do not need injectors now like I did back in June. Thank you for the help too by the way.

Good write up here for converting to the single-plug Super Duty style harness, thanks to the original author.

I think most folks here would point you to Motorcraft valve cover gaskets and pigtails. Riffraff is an excellent source for Motorcraft parts at good prices.

I believe the Dorman part number for the Super Duty style is 615-201. However if you read much here you'll get very mixed reviews of the Dorman gaskets. They are readily available from auto parts stores and sources on line for relatively low prices. There seems to be a lot of bad experiences with them, but there are also a few very reputable users here that have had good luck with them. Chose your adventure.

Sorry Adam, I am a slow typer. I should fess up...I only needed one last fall and went with a Dorman OBS style gasket despite the warnings, again based on a couple solid reviews from very reputable sources here. It's holding up okay so far (only 8K miles on it, fingers crossed). I assumed I'd be in there again at some point down the road and would convert to Motorcraft SD style later. We'll see.

I'm in the middle of this myself. Just pulled the gaskets Sunday. A few of those bolts are a PITA. Took me a couple hours. Especially the one under the heater box on the passenger side. If you have compressed air, blow everything off first to reduce the amount of dirt and crud you might knock onto the top of the heads. I also pulled the engine harness off to make it easier to do the wire connecting. I ordered the dorman ones. Got one off amazon, the seller only had one left at the time, for $60 and one off ebay for a little more than that. I also got new glow plugs off amazon, the motorcraft ones, for like $9.65 each or close to that. Hopefully this evening I can get the glow plugs switched out, then do the wiring conversion later this week.
