1952 F1 Information
My dad has a 1952 F1 that has been parked since 1980. We went and took a look at it over the weekend. I am looking to pull it out of storage next spring and begin restoring it. Just wondering if anyone has any resources for this particular model year. I'd like to learn as much about it as possible before I get started. Thank you in advance for any help.

Jim, that's a very nice looking project. I'm betting that paint would perk right up with a a good rubbing. Ton's of resources on this site, just keep reading and reading and reading. Get yourself a 48-52 (With supplement) shop manual. You can get electronic versions as well. I got the electronic and printed a copy for in the garage. I also recommend the digital version of the Parts and accessories test and diagrams manual. They are readily available. What are your plans for the truck? Stock rebuild? Might help if you put your location in your profile. Keep us updated for sure.

Great looking Manure Spreader... This is a 5 Star Cab... Which came with SS around vent glass, windshield, dual windshield wipers, dual sun visors, & dual door locks. I know there is something I'm forgetting but someone will chime in... I'm a monkey face guy... If you post your serial number & rating plate (on glove box door) we can tell you more about you truck. Hey, Stu, you must save everything you see related to 51 and 52 trucks! Those are pics i took of that Meadow Green truck at a local car dealer that specializes in classic cars and trucks. That is my former red 70 F350 in the background. That truck was in great shape and for the most part correctly done. Even the arm of the seat back is that brownish color as opposed to the argent color of the seat bottom brackets.

Thank you all for the replies so far. I would like to keep everything original if possible. The VIN is F1R2RH18470. I don't have a picture of the rating plate, but I will try to get over there again in the next couple of weeks to get some more pictures and all the info off of the rating plate.

Might be we need to explain Monkey Face and Manure Spreader, or wait for Bob Jones to join us since he came up with the names. Suffice it to say, the 51/52 Manure Spreaders are far better looking!
Might be too we could decode the number for Jim. Pretty straight forward. F1 is obvious, R is V8, 2 is 1952, RH is Richmond. California, as I learned, not Virginia to my embarrassment. The five digits are the truck's unique number.
At some point the question of original color will come up. Metallic light blue is not original. Edit - as I look back at the pictures it could be that there is Sheridan Blue showing through the barn dust. Below is the color chart from the sales handbook. Sheridan blue is dark, but not almost black as it looks in the swatch. Stu
Edit - And while we're bringing the questions into one discussion thread, here are the options and accessories, again from the 1952 sales handbook. Stu

Thank you guys so much for all the info so far. I can tell that this forum is going to be extremely useful once I finally get started. Here are a couple of pics of the interior that I didn't post. It is the original paint. It is definitely Sheridan blue. This also gives a better idea of the amount of work that I'm in for. I wasn't able to get underneath the truck, or get a look at the passenger side.
