I can't remember for sure, but with the ForScan program open, click on the about program tile, bottom left, looks like a steering wheel with a question mark inside, and it should have a hardware ID number there. Mine now says extended license and the expiration date of when it expires. Write that down then close the ForScan program. Then go to the ForScan site to get the extended license.

No, the adapter does not need to be connected.

It was the device ID I copied from the app to the web page in order to generate the lic key. The app put the key into the reg for me, I didn't have to regedit.
I tried to enable the DPF%. I enabled the manual regen line item which is what I gather is required to show the screen. It wrote it back and asked me to cycle the key but it still shows disabled and my 3rd gauge screen is blank. Is this the correct way to do it?

If you're using the OBDLink LX, that's likely your problem. It's WIFI and is too slow. You need the BT version. OBDLink MX. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's an LX but it's a BT interface.
https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-4272...k+lx+bluetooth
From their site it says the MX handles MS-CAN & SW-CAN which it seems the LX doesn't. It'll read everything and says it did the write but nothing changes. Looks like I need another adapter, that'll make 4 that I have

I just added this to my truck tonight with the cheap bluetooth adapter tonight Thanks for the info. My adapter is in the link below.
https://www.amazon.com/Goliton%C2%AE.../dp/B009NPAORC
EDIT: I should add that my bluetooth adapter needed a password before it would connect to my Windows10 laptop. I stuck 1234 in there and it paired right up.

Just getting to the party. If anyone is still subscribed......I read the thread and this is what I've gathered. Please correct me where I've gone off script.
Forscan for Windows is required to make and save changes - Windows 10 compatiblity is verified.
The higher end BT adapter definitely works, but does not work with IOS.
Forscan lite runs on IOS but is only view only.
A WiFi adapter required for IOS.
Basically I need two configurations...one for applying mods and one if I want to display in IOS. If this is correct, Is there any value in just viewing, or should I just stick with the Windows version?
