No 3.73 LS axle in 2017?

I have seen several window stickers that show a limited slip rear axle in a 2017 Expedition (not EL) but the dealer says it is not available to order. Can anyone verify this? I got burned by the Dodge dealer on this same issue when I bought my Ram so I want some corroboration. Thanks.

I just did a build on the Ford site for a 2017 Expedition Platinum just like my 2016 and it shows that 3.73 axle as a $320 option. Maybe not available on certain trim levels perhaps??

Glock - Good call - went back in and pulled the details up in the configurator:

The 3.73 Limited Slip Rear-Axle is standard on all extended length models with the 4x4 drivetrain. It is optional on all other model configurations.

Sounds like MT79's dealer needs to do some more digging.

You won't get a limited slip. You will get an open diff only. The traction control system utilizes wheel sensors, engine retard and individual brake actuation to work. Limited slip will not work with that system.

If you can get the 3:73 on the short WB, I would get if you are towing....alot or in a mountainous region....or you drag race it.
I would rock the 3:55 if it is a mall crawler....better gas mileage.

On page 1 of the MY16 Expedition RV & Trailer Towing guide, it shows a Rear Axle Ratio Code chart, which lists the 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio as using a Limited Slip unit with AXLE code "3L". My Expedition EL 4x4 has this AXLE code

The 3.73 ratio is standard on the Expedition EL 4x4, and OPTIONAL on EL 4x2 and Expedition short 4x4s.

The MY15 Expedition RV & Trailer Towing guide, shows the 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio as using a NON Limited Slip unit with AXLE code "16".

I wonder how the traction control works if they are using a limited slip. They must have redesigned the system.

FWIW:

On the build sheet (FordEtis home page) for my '17 Limited it shows"
Ford Series
Engine: 3.5L V6 GTDI
Transmission: 6 Speed Automatic Trans (6R80)
Drive: LHD 4WD (PTD)
Axle Ratio: 3.73

Then below in the "minor features" section it shows:

3.73
Rear Axle Limited Slip Differential
