Are the two valve and 3 valve V10 blocks the same?

I have a blown 3 valve 6.8 in my motorhome. I found a 2 valve 6.8 with 5k miles on the odometer, also from a motorhome.

I can get the engine for a decent amount of cash and would need to transfer my heads over to the 2 valve block. Are the pistons the same and are the blocks the same? For the money I would be willing to make the head swap. My engine had 29k miles on it when it got water in it and hydrolocked and destroyed the block. My heads are fine. I just would like to use this 2 valve block if possible. Any help appreciated.

Maybe someone will answer the question for you. Til then, you can try going to a Ford parts site and researching part numbers. Look up your engine part numbers and compare them to the ones from the 2v engine.

personally.. if changing engines... leave the 2 valve a 2 valve .. just swap engines..

unless a FULL and complete x-ray was done on the 3 valve heads.. do not use.
hydro locking is a very powerful force.

my opinion. best of luck with your project.

I don't think it would be that easy. Not only would he lose 50 HP by doing that, but I don't think any of the electronics from his motorhome are compatible with that. He'd likely need a new engine harness and PCM, which may or may not work with the instrument cluster and the rest of the truck.

I remember looking at part numbers for something like this years ago, and I think the blocks are the same. Pistons aren't though, so your compression ratio will likely be off. Might be something that can be handled with a tune, but might not as well if your compression is too high. I think you're better off sourcing a donor 3v engine.

** CLIP ** .

Very Good Point.. I did not think/know of major electronic changes.

find a 3 valve engine.

The BLOCK should be the same (or compatible) but the PISTONS are probably not.

What year is your motorhome? What year is the 2v engine?

A better response would be if you could provide the VINs of both your motorhome, and the donor motorhome's. That way we will KNOW.
