PCM alphabet soup

I need a new PCM. Main chip is gone. It was a remanufactured PCM ending in CSA. The main number is F6PF 12A650. The truck is a manual transmission. I can't find any pcm's with these exact numbers. It appears csa might be an upgrade. I have no information at all on the PCM except a faded sticker that I can't read. Truck is a 97 4.2 5 speed bare bones truck. I see all these adds saying this unit will work on any f series and then I see ones saying the numbers must match. Looking for help in getting the correct PCM.
Thanks in advance Joe

PCM alphabet

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Bunch of numbers and letters that according to what I've read does not work for vehicle. I can't believe all pcm's are the same based on different vehicle options and transmissions.

The only proper way to program is to access Ford's data base with the VIN.
The data base has all the vehicles produced by Ford.
It's where a dealer gets his data for programming.
Other vendors have access to it with proper authorization.
Every model and equipage can be slightly different.
The differences are in tire size, gear ratio, weight, manual or auto trans, engine size and other options.
Certainly a manual trans does not have solenoids to shift it like an auto does so there is one big difference.
Wire harness vs engine equipage over the year range is different.
For example a 98 vs an 02 4.6 does not have the same ignition system so wire harness is different as well as the plugup at the PCM.
You must have the correct version, then the correct program.
The hardware on the PCM board is nearly the same but for the physical applications.
Good luck.
