Price check---what can I buy this for?
2016 XLT with the most of what I want. Has the narrower extended cab and not the bigger four doors cab and the bigger EB engine 301A mid package plus a few extras . Some or most of the towing goodies too . Dealer has total on window sticker MSRP at $44,890 ( that includes something called a mid XLT discount $1000.00 on the window sticker.
Ford website in NC is offering 72 months zero interest and Ford Smart Bonus ( whatever that is) $1,000 off and $500 more for Labor day cash if closed on by the 6th
Now I read about guys getting 8 9 10 grand off on similar trucks back a few years ago on here. Are those days over? What would you expect you could close the deal for? I might seriously go for it if they can make me forget about the 10 speed but it would have to be huge to do it like the old days.
I could get 2.75 for the same period at credit union but so far they are not offering more cash if you don't finance with them at zero.

34K and zero interest would be a no brainer. How do I get there?
The last new car I bought the salesgirl actually threw the keys at me and quit the dealership that night. I found out the next day when I went by to pick up something. It was a rainy Monday night in March back when the economy was in the crapper and she knew I was surprising my wife and didn't need the car at all and I was not worried about her "paying her rent" as she said to me. I was the only customer in the whole two hours I was there. I did get a very good deal..................
Doubt these truck guys will be that moody or doubt I can not look like I want it so bad I can taste it with hunting season starting. LOL

Deals can still be had, but you may have to shop around and wait for the right time. My truck is a '15 XLT that I bought new a year ago for $13K off. This was the only deal I could find that was that good though, and it was 80 miles away. Most dealers were offering $7-8K off MSRP.
Biggest thing that affects this is factory incentives, and they can vary widely depending on the time of year. Shop around and see what you can come up with.

2015 xlt w302a, twenty's, nav, fx4, max tow, sport appearance pkg, sticker was 51,110, out the door at 44,600 all in. Rebates and x plan came to 9950. Rebates vary, I did not shop this truck, I walked in the door and really did not negotiate, could I have done better, I don't know, I hate the negotiation part with a passion, next one will be on a-plan. I took a rebate to take ford financing, made a few payments and refinanced at 1.25 for 72 at the credit union.

Usually these will be something that is optioned up, but has some features that drive people to another truck for similar money in the beginning. This one is a SCAB with a 2.7, yet it has all the towing stuff. For that original sticker you're a kiss away from a SCREW with a 3.5.

I'm looking at a new '15 very similarly equipped, sticker $49660, current offer is $37445. One only....

I think the more appropriate question is...how far are you willing to travel? I bought mine...a 2016 SCAB 5.0 4x4 that had a sticker price of 47k. The dealer advertised it at 47k. I bought it for 34k. Big dealers can get you bigger discounts. The 700 mile drive sucked...but was worth it in the end to get the truck I wanted.
I found my dealer on auto trader. Just plug in what you want and see how close the truck you want is. A lot of dealers will advertise what they are willing to let the truck go for right off the bat.

They never greatly reduced the '14s after the '15s hit the market. The new trucks were priced higher and didn't have the rebates the old ones did but $10k off sticker was not the norm just because it was the outgoing body style. Now is the best the deals have been since the the new '150 came out which is expected as you have three years worth of the new truck for sale either new or used.

2008: They had ads in the San Gabriel & LA Times newspapers for, among other vehicles, two Edges at a very low lease price.
We were there at 8AM when they opened. Salesman said one was already leased. I said...where is the customer? We were here first, I don't see anyone else.
After looking around for an hour, they said Mrs. Wondries was driving the other. I asked which Mrs. Wondries would this be, since the founder (a former Studebaker dealer), had been dead for years?
Salesman said he didn't know.
I said that by law, the day when ads appear in the paper, the vehicles have to be on the lot, otherwise it's bunco better known as bait and switch.
We left, went over to Ed Butts in La Puente and got a deal there.

How much is that hurting the dealer money wise? I know what it will cost to finance the truck through the credit unit but I need a ballpark what the dealer should take off extra if I don't go through Ford credit.
On another note ....how much is it to my advantage I want a Supercab and not the Supercrew? I rarely see them like everybody wants the full four doors but I can't see the sense in getting less than the 6.5 bed to haul a jon boat and can't see myself enjoying a daily driver with a 6.5 bed and a Supercrew very much. Heck! the Supercab and the 6.5 is going to be a handful for me as it is. I'm hoping come resale time the relative rarity of it will help me more than hurt me but on the flip side will help me on the buy side getting a better deal as they are not near as popular.

If you're shopping at Wondries, be aware of bait and switch.

As for Wondries, we had a similar experience in '94. We tied the guy up for over an hour after he blatantly said they didn't want us to buy the ad car, they wanted us to buy the higher sticker cars. The ad cars were a couple miles away. We made him take us over there and drive one. Then we drove a loaded one. We tied him up, we got to drive the cars and decided not to buy one anyway and it saved us a trip to another dealer.
