Metal glove box

I remember when I first came to the forum, someone had made a glove box from thin sheet metal, but for the life of me, I can't find it in the search bar. Anyone have any info on this?

That's it, thanks. I'm wondering if there's a printable stencil I could get to do this

If you still have one, the original glove box liner could be split at the seams and used as just that.

You want to use it as a template... not a stencil.

Undo the staples, flatten it, trace, mark your folds, bend, and rivet or weld it together.

... extra points if it is made outta aluminum.

Back to the jy I guess, I don't weld, I wonder if aluminum could be soldered together and stick.

You can buy plastic glove boxes from jeffs bronco graveyard. If you don't weld use rivets with metal like the link shows. Another thing is if you have air conditioning it makes it very difficult to remove/install the glovebox from behind the dash board. With cardboard or plastic it allows some flexibility to install/remove through the glovebox door hole.

I made one out of Aluminum for my Galaxie.

Took the old cardboard one and used it as a template. Wasn't that hard.
I spot welded mine, but I'm sure you could use rivets.

Only regret is I didn't use the bead Roller on the back section and write something like "Ford" or "Galaxie" on it.

Wish I had pictures to show but I'm offshore and cell signal is weak.

A repro glovebox liner is only like $12... install it. Use it. And if it ever starts to fall apart then fab up a metal version.

Or essentially you're buying a $12 template if you'd prefer metal anyway!

When I get to restoring my interior I'm going to give this metal box a whirl... If I get it done I can post measurements and drawings for future reference. (Note: it could be a while before I get to it tho so don't wait on me lol)
