Cost of Front End Alignment?
Just curious whether or not I got screwed when I had my 2014 F350 front end aligned. I have had plenty of alignments on my Ford Van's and pickups over the years, but this one took me by surprise.
I went to Gator Ford in Brandon, Fl. after a 3500 mile trip up north and back. 2000 of those miles were towing my fifth wheel. Well, I can tell you that the roads in and around Baltimore Md. are probably some of the worst roads I've encountered in a long time.
After the trip I noticed the tires were wearing unevenly on the outside. Normally that would have been the front tires but I had rotated them to the rear before the trip. So to see them on the rear wearing down to almost no tread showing, got me to think something was wrong with the rear. Gator Ford tech said that it was from the front wear and only because that now the rear tire was wearing down that it showed as much as it did.
Anyway, The bottom line is I was charged $269 for a front end alignment and I was shocked. I don't know if they saw me coming and gave me a song and a dance, but I got it done. I won't know if this was the normal price or not, so I'm hoping that someone out there can say one way or another.
The Truck is a F350 2 wheel drive with the 6.2 ltr. engine.
Thanks

I never paid over $80 for a front end alignment. My dad did get an alignment done on his truck and the tie rod needed changed because the screw threads were rusted too bad but that is the only alignment I know of that went over $100.
The only time I ever took my truck to a Ford dealer for anything was right after I did my ball joints about 4 years ago. When I got the alignment sheet that showed the before and after alignment specs I saw it was a letterhead for a local body shop that alignment. the friggin dealer didn't even have equipment to an alignment. After 8 years of use and a ball joint change one measurement was out by .5 degrees.
