56 f600 Gem just found

hi guys, not been on for a while, but went to a new town today, where i will be working for the next few days, and there at the side of the road is a lovely 56 F600, seems to be very original and untouched, need to measure the bed to see if i can get it in a container to take it home to the UK, if not i will give out details so someone on here can get it, will measure then call about price, what would be a fair price you guys think

That's a nice looking truck. I have no idea what a good price would be. The larger trucks aren't worth as much as the F100.
I hope you can get it.

That is the only condition I would want to buy a truck in. That beautiful truck has been stored indoors all it's life. It has a 2 speed rear end too. Its more like truckin with a 2 speed rear end. I wanted a truck that size but our F-3 fits in the garage better. Oh Well! Patrick

I'd have to know more before I would give a price. Does it run? Does it stop? Is it a dump bed? I didn't see any sticks or PTO levers in the cab but looking at the grain bed it might be.

It does have the rare hood bird.

I wonder what the seat looks like under the optional seat cover?

That is a jewell. Won't take much to bring it back. Looks like a potato truck, so it would be a dumper.

well i went and measured it and its got an 8ft bed, so i can't get it in a container, but i will look at other options, and talk to owner tomorrow to find out price, might have to take bed off and put it in container on its side and refit back home.

With the size of the door on the rear stake side, it likely was used for grains and beans. Definitely a bed hoist truck.

By the early fifties most PTOs were cable operated. I'll bet a photo of the dash left of steerng wheel would show a black and red **** mounted under dash.

That is a standard grain bed. The racks were for livestock. They would be placed in upright position for larger animals. Many grain boxes mounted on 50s-70s trucks had those as I remember.

The bed assembly should detach with three points. Handling the bed once removed is another story. Looks like a great unmolested truck.

I "cruised around town" a bit (via google earth) but didn't see it. There's a red/black 1956 Ford Fairlane 2 door hardtop parked one block north.
