Looking at a 2002

Looking at a 2002 Ranger xlt extended cab 2wd 3.0 v6 with 5 speed AT trans. Step side. Any issues to look out for it only has 57,000 miles

Had one, but I think it was losing a cam bearing when I traded it. Might be something to look into before you buy. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I know that on my 99 and some others older models had a issue with the camshaft schyronizer not getting oiled well... not sure if it was fixed by 2002,,,, but the part is not that high and fairly easy to install if you are a mechanical person,,,, the bushing would not get oiled and cause major damage if it failed while driving,,, it spins the oil pump,,, something for you to think about,,,if it is bad it sounds like a belt squeak or a chirp
