Air conditioning pump randomly turning on when console is set to panel
Hey everybody I have a slightly strange problem with my Ford F-150 I know it's going down the road a couple days ago that and my air conditioning console was set to panel Suddenly the air conditioning pump will kick on. first question is there an easy way of fixing this if not is there a way that I could splice into the air conditioning console wires and possibly cut power to the pump with an addition of a switch. just wondering if you guys knew anything thank you. I have a 1997 Ford F150
the air conditioner randomly turns on for short periods when the switch is set to defrost or panel to keep the humidity down and not fog windows.... You also don't want the compressor setting idle for several months during the winter.. Short run times are expected.
I wasn't aware it should come on when set to panel. Mine never did, because I definitely would've heard it when the compressor went south. Defrost yes. How do you know your compressor is turning on?
Do you have the mode selector switch set to "PANEL", between the OFF and A/C setting or "PANEL & FLOOR" setting, between the OFF and the FLOOR setting?
Normally, the compressor is allowed to run in ALL positions EXCEPT OFF, FLOOR, and PANEL (vent).
