So this does not appear to be an isolated issue but rather something each buyer is going to have to deal with.
Of course there is always the possibility that these are not mistakes, which is starting to seem more likely.

I would say it makes more sense that the stickers are wrong as opposed to all the lit Ford has put out. I would also say it's more likely the stickers are wrong than loosing 780# vs. last years model. But yes, the possibility is there. Makes no sense and a couple months back I would have said, absolutely no way. However, with the other stunts Ford has pulled during the redesign and launch, (same HP and same SRW 350 11.5k GVWR) I am certainly afraid that you could be right.

I could end up in a 450 that I don't want after all if this keeps up...

I am wondering if Ford printed the wrong labels on purpose (at least for the early ordered trucks) and will then come back and relabel them with a higher GVWR that beats the competition and fits more inline with the heavy frame and heavier rear diff.
Of course they need to have the "recall" before too many are actually registered with the wrong tag as I don't know what kind of PIA it would be to get them registered.
Awful odd that Josh or Dan dont knoe or aren't telling.
And that Ford made the trucks heavier built but didn't increase GVWR

It is all very interesting, because the two trucks mentioned in this thread have been SRW LB trucks. Ford provided the numbers for a similar truck during testing, which had a ridiculously low payload of 3,103lbs. There is no need for a rear GAWR over 6,340lbs. for that truck given that around 5,500lbs. will be over the front axle.

I guess I just don't understand Ford's thinking on these trucks. They increased engine power and max towing limits, but reduced various other ratings like the payload and axles, which makes it impossible to actually two those amounts within their specs unless you have tongue weights near 10%.

Outside the F-450, it appears these trucks may lag behind the 2016 GM and RAM towing and payload ratings in many configurations.

I agree with both you guys. None of this makes sense. The conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe it's all a ploy but it's not like a flash for more power. These trucks are registered by weight in many states which would be difficult (and annoying) to change after they are registered and titled. Josh did repeatedly tell us that "the 450 got the most out of the redesign." Well, yeah. If the rest of the line went down in capacity, I guess that would certainly be the case. I just sent him another PM. I have a VERY strong suspicion that both he and Dan know a lot more than they are allowed to talk about here on this subject. Hopefully, it just means we will be in for a pleasant surprise but I'm beginning to doubt that. I've been waiting for a pleasant surprise since the numbers started coming out and am about done waiting. Maybe Bill is right and if you really want a SRW, go Ram. At least you know what you're getting...

It would be illegal for Ford to intentionally place the wrong labels on trucks. Lots of employees at the plant would probably figure out right off they were wrong. I think they are right. Not sure why.

Salesman gave me this when I ordered mine. I'm thinking it has to be a spring issue of some sort.

This kinda happened to my wife's 16 Tahoe, gm identified the vins that they had printed the wrong fuse locations and the tire pressure payload type sticker on higher trim levels and simply mailed them out to replace by the owner or you could take to dealer so I guess it is possible? Who knows

I've got a couple emails sent out on this issue. Hopefully I hear something back. One of the big things I told them I felt was being neglected over the last few years has been the SRW crowd. They make up a large percent of the truck sales, yet they hang everything on the DRW/450 numbers. I told the ad department they need to focus on the being the SRW leader. Maybe it won't fall on deaf ears for future stuff.

My RV and all the ones built around the same time had misprinted values on their VIN tag. It happens.

Starting to look like the low rear GAWR on the 350 SRW door label is not a misprint. Dealer can find no answer so far. My sales rep seems to really be trying and I think they know it is going to cost them a sale if nothing can be done about it. But so far they have come up with no answer. Will post update if there is one.
