Yeah, that makes sense. I'm going to roll across the scale when I get mine.

I'm just hoping I don't gain much weight going from SC to CC and 8 more gallons of fuel. It's all a game but I'm going to see if I can stay under that 28700# number with the garage at capacity and water tanks full. If not, I really don't need 150 gallons of water on board for most trips. And, without that weight, I know I'd be completely within specs. 150 gallons gives me 1251# to play with...

The new frame makes me legal, I also am within specs except for GCWR which I am 1500 over..2017 moves me to 40k so the new limiting factor in my weight range is the 5th wheel hitch..

I'm basing it off the 3103# payload from the marketing sheet on the platinum from one of the drive events.

I still don't get Ford being beat by Ram by 800# on payload/gvwr. For those who want to tow a big fifth wheel and have a family, they really missed the mark with the 2017. They knew Ram's capacity, as they have had the 12,300# gvwr for quite some time. So now it's down to:
1. Watch my weight carefully every trip to minimize how badly I'm over the payload rating.
2. Not care about the rating (won't do that one)
3. Drive a f350 dually and deal with the limitations - wide with wide turning
4. Drive a f450 and deal with its limitations - 4.30 mileage, stiffer tires
5. Drive a srw ram

I really don't like the Ram, so I have a set of suboptimal choices. If Ford delivered on the weight savings (750# for the f150) or matched the Ram gvwr, I'd been fine. With all of the hype, who'd thought we be left with these choices.

I wouldn't mind recommendations by the way.

Only you know what your priorities are. You know what I would do. The ratings that matter for safety are GAWR and tire ratings. GVWR and GCWR are manufacturer ratings for warranty purposes that in 99% of the country and not legally enforceable while towing RV's. Payload means absolutely nothing and is wrong from delivery. The only way to get your true payload is to weigh the truck ready to travel and subtract that number from the truck's GVWR. All that said, I don't think it would be that hard to stay under all your numbers if it makes you feel better. You can make a big deal out of it or you can just figure it out and get it done. Conversely, you can buy a DRW or another brand but that seems silly to me when you are that close to being under every number.

That's a good point Rodney. Now that I have a pin scale, I'll play around with ways to lighten the pin. I can mount a tray on the hitch on the back of the camper and put my wood on it. I can also partially fill my rear gray and black tanks to lighten the pin.

Still hoping for a job #2 payload bump.

I think the most puzzling issue is the point you raised earlier...Ford knew for a long time what Ram's specs were. They topped the towing, they topped the torque...but they couldn't top GVWR? We see the new frame, we see the new M275, why can't GVWR go up?

Scratch that. I'm at 12,425, not 11,925. That'll teach me to calculate sitting on a beach.i don't think I can easily manage being 1,125# over. More pondering... O Ford, if you just matched the Ram! All of those improvements, all of that testing...

I agree Tyler. It makes zero sense to me either. It seemed they focused strictly on the DRW 350 and 450 numbers and completely neglected the SRW trucks. Heck, the 18" wheel version actually lost axle capacity over the previous gen. How can that be with all the upgraded components? I think there is a reason behind it. I think Josh might even be privy but can't share. I just wish I knew because mysteries drive me crazy. Just give me a reason, even if it's one I don't like, and I'll get over it. Don't just say we improved everything but lowered or tied our previous numbers. Another thing that makes no sense is you can't get 20" wheels with the camper package. So, to get the highest RAWR you have to get 20's but but with that can't get the camper package, cert, and sway bar which most benefits from the heavy GAWR?!?! WTH?

2009KR, hey, what's your first name? It's so impersonal saying "Hey 2009KR" lol. Anyways, yes, 1200# over is a bit more to manage. Well, at least you have options and better yet, you're at the beach... Enjoy...

Someone post the questions over on Josh's thread or invite MediumDan to the conversation.

I've asked Josh to investigate. He asked while he was at the last event and got a smirk and no real answer according to the last I heard from him. He's since grown tired of my PM's and despite me sending him a link to this thread earlier, he hasn't responded. (He didn't respond to my last PM a week ago either so maybe he's had it with the whole deal... or me...LOL...) Maybe we can get Dan going here. I'll send him a PM.

Exactly. I've PM'd both Josh and Dan on this now. Will see if anyone provides insight... if they can. Could be a Fight Club situation?

Bill. But now you have to be nicer as we are on a first name basis.

OMG! If you didn't tell me I was going to start calling you Bill and when you asked why I was going to say, because that was my first guess and you wouldn't tell me your real name! What are the odds I guessed right... unless you're toying with me and tampering with my delicate sensibilities.....

Plus, I am being nice. I deleted my not nice post at 4am in the other thread in favor of a more PC version...
