How do I know what I'm getting when buying deleted truck?
New to the forum and have a newbie question about buying a truck that's fully deleted. If everything is removed and I'm handed a box of parts what are the key parts to identify so I can return to stock if needed.
Thanks for any help and pics of the parts would be helpful too.

The biggest thing with the tuning is what type of tuning the person used. If they were looking and running it for speed, then I would walk. Some of the tunes that are race type can advance the timing so much that it really puts the engine thru a beating due to the advance in timing.
I would have a good look at the tires and look and see what condition they are in, another thing I would ask the seller is what tunes they used the truck in most and what tunes they favored when and if they towed with it. That may give you some insight into how they used the truck.
And of course ask for those maintenance records and crawl over and under the truck and then get an oasis report.

A stranded truck with a bad egt sensor
A jackhammer, ruff running regen problem.
A poorer fuel mileage from a regen every hundred miles.
A need to fill the def fluid
A message to drive too clean dpf
A filthy oil contaminated from the egr
A 1500° king kong dic under your truck
A message that you are now in a regen,,, and suffer a
mpg cut in half, or less, for 10-25 miles
A reduction in power because your def is empty
You won't get beat by a GM or Ram
No box of parts, just a one piece dpf center section of the exhaust more or less easily unbolted/removed.
Its a misconception, big busine$$, and not true that other parts 'need' to be removed. 2011-2016 deleted trucks run just fine for hundreds of thousands of miles with out even opening the hood to remove anything. Unlike the earlier <2010 Fords.

If you live in a state that has emissions testing, you will be getting a truck that won't pass. Traded in my '09 Ram diesel on the '16 Lariat, & dealer had the Ram brought into the shop, & looked at by a tec. to confirm that it was not deleted prior to even talking $.

Surprisingly enough, lots of dealers here are selling deleted trucks and taking them on trade.
Buddy of mine just traded his 2012 and dealer paid $2500 more for him to leave the tuner and intake/exhaust.
Another buddy just bought a 2015 dmax that's fully deleted, straight pipe and tuner. Hell dealer had it listed on the net as a deleted and tuned truck.
Apparently the rules are getting easier to break??
