Hi guys! Need ur help here! I have a 2001 F150 SuperCrew 4x4. The other day I was driving down the highway and the speedometer started bouncing and OD light started blinking. Didnt seem to affect how the truck drove, except maybe a little slow to shift into passing gear. Anyway, called the dealer and they said it sounded like the variable speed sensor and it would be $60 to diagnose and 260 to fix if that is what it is. It isn't throwing the check engine light and doesnt do it all the time. Stumped here and hoping that maybe yall could save me some time and some money. Thanks so much!!
I assume they meant the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is mounted on the rear differential and takes about 5 minutes to replace. It has 1 connector and 1 bolt.
I'm in Canada so my price would be different than yours but someone here will probably tell you how much they are worth.
