Balancer not flush to Crank Snout

Does this look correct?

390 FE with Eagle 4.250 Stroker Crank
Spacer Sleeve is on all the way. Checked oil slinger before installing oil pan and it was tightly squeezed between time gear and spacer.

Harmonic Balancer does not come close to being flush with crank snout.

Yes, it is cracked. This balancer came off my previous 390 fe that had a cylinder wall cave. I found the crack when installing. New balancer will be here in the morning.

Should the balancer be flush with the crank?

I always remember the washer being slightly bent when removing the dampener bolt, so I'm going to say "no, it shouldn't be flush" - but wait for someone with some more recent experience to chime in, it's been a LONG time since I touched one.

Thoughts:

-No it shouldn't be flush.
-It needs to be tightened with the bolt, if the bolt bottomed out it wouldn't really be holding it on.
-Aftermarket crankshafts are a lil wonky, especially with the keyway, make sure the keyway isn't binding the whole works. This is important to check on the crank spacer as well as the balancer. A belt sander and gentle adjustments to the key are required for perfect fit.

Good luck.
