Saturday I went to close the rear window on my 2000 Expedition and the rear window will not close. It looks like the locking mechanism is in the closed position. I tried the power door lock, but to no avail. I tried with the key in the tailgate lock, but this didn't work either. I fiddled with the mechanism with a screwdriver while locking and unlocking the tailgate lock, but also to no avail. Any input would be appreciated.

 

Checked for a broken or disconnected cable?

 

My old '99 did the same thing. Take some panels off. I can't remember exactly but there's a plastic guide sort of thing for the cable release and it can break or come undone.
