3" ball mounts on the way?!?
#18
Got an update from Weigh Safe on their new 3" ball mount hitch today.
"It is right now being tested to get certified at 21,000 lbsmax gross trailer weight. That testing should be done this sometime thisweek. Unless there are any delays in the testing process, we are still onfor November 1st!
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!"

Thanks for sharing bud. This is on the must have list so I can sell all my other fixed drop hitches.

Might have to get on your hands and knee's to make sure-lol. Okay Okay, all done. Couldn't pass it up.
All I can offer is that I have a 14' tandem enclosed Aluma trailer and right now I've got a 4" drop mount. The front axle barley touches the ground. So little, that I have to turn the trailer brake gain down to zero to prevent the front axle tires from skidding. If they follow the same pricing format they currently have, each extra 2" of drop is $10.00 more. With that in mind, I figure I'll just order the 10" version.

House, it really depends on your trailer. Tongue height is ideally between 15 and 19 inches but it will vary depending on the manufacturer. And there have been discussions as to where to measure. Top of ball or base of ball. Like the Mets and Yankees, so to speak. I have trailers at which cover these heights and one which actually likes a 20 height. Adjustable is the way to go but if you go severe off road? Then the long drop can be an issue.

I like that you can get the hitch with separate tow *****, and the locking pins for the adjustability seem more secure then the DT hitch version.
If you need adjustability, the 8 or 10" drop.
I have a 10" drop DT like the one in this link. Mine is the version that uses a 2" bar with a permanently attached steel sleeve.
DT uses a cam locking stainless pin to secure the hitch into the receiver and the ball mount to the hitch. I had some reservations of the rather smallish single pin holding up, but for 5 years now I haven't had any issues.
With the range of trailers I have pulled I use all the adjustment including flipping the bar to get extra height. But even with all that adjustment I still use a solid billet 8" drop hitch with a single greaseless 2" ball for my low profile motorcycle trailer. And even with that I had to grind off about 1/4" of the nut and stub.

House....I've got a 250 with the HD tow package...so our rear probably sits the same. I had a 3" drop B&W Tow and Stow on my last 250. Of course it wasn't going to work. Went out to the Ranch Hand store and ordered a 5" Drop model....got it home and on the "Lowest setting" it doesn't give me the level height I want/need to get the boat in the garage without hitting the prop guard REALLY bad. Bad enough I can't jump it over the lip in the cement. Soooo, I called back and he ordered me the 7" inch drop model and i'm picking it up tomorrow. Granted...these are the B&W brand with a 2 1/2 inch shaft....but it really surprised me how gosh dang high the azz end of this truck is...LOL. I'm going with the 7" drop to give me flexibility with my boat, utility trailer and 25 foot bumper pull camper.
