Change Oil Soon Warning

2013 Ford F-350, CC. Lariat.

This may be very simple, but this morning I recieved "Change Oil Soon" warning. I had the oil changed at about 20,500. Current odometer is about 22,530. I am thinking that when the oil was changed the garage did not reset the oil life in the message center.

Just looking for some info to back up that thought, or if there may be somehing else going on that I may need to look at. Have not had a chance to get into the Owners manual as this happened 30 minutes ago on the way to work.

Thanks.

Eric

Not reset, just one more reason that I do it myself.

Yup, that's quite common, lots of shops aren't yet in the habit of resetting those.

The Oil Life Monitor doesn't actually analyze your engine oil, so it must be reset every time the oil is changed. So if they didn't reset it, the computer thinks the oil is the same from when it was last reset. It's virtually impossible to set off the OLM after 2,500 miles, so I think you're safe to go to your next regularly scheduled oil change. You can always reset it yourself to get rid of that message.

That is what I am thinking. I reset it before I got into work. If it pops back up then somethings amiss. I have 1/2 life left anyway. Thank you.!

IF you change your oil every 5k then yep, about half way. If you let the truck tell you when, then you will go about another 5K before it's ready to be changed.

5,000 normally, though during the camping season I change about every 4K. Thank you.
