Its just a thought so don't get me wrong. But maybe we should see if we can help "54 truck" with his transmission, B4 the moderator is forced to shut down his thread, leaving him hangin. Peace and Love forever.
We need more information from the PO: specifically what transmission is involved. A picture would go a long ways. Does it have a throttle valve linkage or a vacuum modulator? Has the fluid level been checked?
hi again I was wrong just looked through my paper work that came with my truck years ago. the motor is a 1965 ford 289 hi po. and the box is a 1966 cruise o matic. Albuq f-1
what do you mean buy a throttle valve linkage? or a vacuum modulator? do you have picture of what you mean?
Is there a vacuum line running from the intake manifold/carburetor down to the back of the transmission, to a can that looks like a vacuum advance can? or is there a linkage from the throttle on the carb that goes down to the transmission? Can you take some pictures of the trans from different angles?
Have you checked the fluid level with the truck fully warmed up, in Park?
Check your vacuum line running to the trans for cracks or leaking .
A leaking vac line will make the trans do what you describe .
Also check the kickdown to make sure it's not binding or getting hooked up .
