Hunting a miss, idles badly, inconclusive codes galore

Hate to ask the stupid question but ran into it a ton when working for U-Haul, when you put in the TPS you started with it about 45 degrees clockwise then rotated it counterclockwise to put the screws in? If not the pin is on the wrong side of the lever and will never move. Had several trucks back then with drivability issues due to the TPS an di even it did it on one of my own.

I gotta do cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, reset the base timing and find a stinking vacume leak on mine. I got a idle miss on mine. My old Bronco II had the miss due to base timing, when I rest that ran smooth as silk.
Bought mine from a friend in California and have just been busy (got married again, new job, dealing with 2 houses now) to really work on it but hope to have some time soon.

Well, got all the way down to the TPS, and found out I definitely installed it correctly. Looking at the TB lever I seated the TPS retarded (turned counter clockwise) against the lever, then turned it clockwise until the holes for the bolts were aligned and tightened the sensor in place. I'll test the wires for spark tomorrow, see if there is any crossfire... Still think the cause is somewhere else.
