239 Y-Block Water Pump on ebay

I saw this on ebay and thought someone might be interested.
Ford 1955 1956 Truck 239 256 272 F100 500 600 Vintage Rebuilt Water Pump WP1272 | eBay

It says he has two. Since I have a working on at $170 it's a bit pricey for me.
But, if you need one it would be good.

Someone was discussing this on Facebook and it brought up a question.
Are the 54 and 55 239 Y-block water pumps different?
I can't imagine that they are, but the book has this:

It says that part #: EAT 8501-B is for the 54
and B6T 8501-B is for the 55.
But it also says the 55 part number works for the 239,256 and 272 (for the 56 larger trucks)
Well shoot, it also says it works for the 256 in 54. Am I looking at the right part numbers?

So what is correct?

Hi Joe, So my truck, as you know, is a 55' F350 "Y" series. The water pump is a high fan mount type. The number on my water pump is EBV 8505-D. I don't even see it on the list! This just adds to the mystery! I'll follow and see if anyone has any comments.

What mystery?
Of course you don't this pump in the parts list, because EVP-8505-D not a part number!

EAT-8501-B = 1954 F100/700; C500/700 239/256.

B6T-8501-B = 1955 F100/700; C500/700 239/256 & 1956 F600/700; C500/700 272 Heavy Duty.

B6C-8501-B = 1956 F100/600 272 (except 272 Heavy Duty); 1957/58 F100/600 272; 1957/64 F100/600 292.

Good info Bill. So since they have different part numbers can we assume they don't interchange? Can you tell which on is in the eBay ad?
I've always gone under the assumption that if it was a 239 y block that they would all use the same pump.

It doesn't seem that long ago, but he left office almost 30 years ago.
Side note, my wife was pregnant when Reagan died. The funeral was touching, especially seeing Mickey Rooney saluting the casket. Well Gwen insisted on Reagan for our daughters middle name. It sounded good to me....well she was very pregnant, I guess it didn't matter what I thought.

Bill is correct of course. Many years ago, at least more than 17 since it was before I had Old Betsy painted, my water pump went out. My local garage could not find a rebuilt one for 54. Matter of fact their books said there was not a 239 in 54. I said there was ..... I have one. Since 54 is different and a one year only make, they do not have rebuilt ones on hand for a core exchange. So I had to take mine off, send it away and wait for it to come back.

So now, be glad you have a 55! Now why did they change them? Must have been for an improvement, but what?

I think it may have something to do with how the fan is mounted. 1954 car 239 also uses a one year only water pump.

Abe, you have one of each. Compare how the fan is mounted 1954 vs. 1955.

The difference is the impeller size on the pump and the front cover on the 54 is a one year cover as well

And now your beautiful truck is there, too! The good thing is those guys will be worried about the rain getting their trucks dirty and you won't have to worry at all! Patina is cool, clean or dirty or wet or dry!

Edit: why did you use this old water pump thread?

I copied and pasted it to the 55 239 yblock thread. Joe is using his cell phone and it's not the easiest method of posting.
