1) C= 60's
3= 1963
A= Fullsize Ford Car
E= Engine group
6015= Engine block
AC = the engineering version

2) Date code:
3 = 1963
H = August
22= 22nd of August

4 = No clue.

What this means is your engine block was cast on August 22nd 1963. All of this fits with it being in a 1964.

best forum 4 yer year's drive train

'lo again,

Good 2 C U over here, we met on MA Chapter.

Great truck. Thanks 4 sharin yer find of a 20 yr retired vehicle, and so unique (2 me anyway)! Can't wait 2 C a pic from underneath that transmission/divorced transfer case area.

I believe you might do the best - on gathering real, on the ground info - on yer rig if U went to the "Older 1961 - '66" forum. There's 30K Threads over there. I believe yer 223 was in the last throes of production B 4 that switched to the 'falcon' motors (another forum 2 "200, 250 & 300/4.9L motors"). U might take some time and just peruse the threads & come up w/some good restoration info? Post yer Qs there? Wanna C a neighbor get to the correct spot CUZ I'll B interested 2 C how you go along!

Good luck! Keep postin
(We LUV pic)!!!

Thanks for all your assistance I have been checking out all the forums looking for as much information as possible. Trying to stay focused on one issue at a time is very difficult. But progress is being made.

It's a Dana 24. Not much to say about it. It's like any other gear driven two speed divorced transfer case designed around that time. It's not as strong as the NP205 or 202 but with the 223 you'll need to do a lot of redline clutch dumps on pavement before you hurt anything. Supposedly parts are hard to find. They're no harder to find than they are for any other 1960s transfer case that isn't the 205. "Kits" aren't available, hard parts will be either NOS or used and if you put on your big boy pants and do some research and part number cross referencing you should have no problems finding bearings and seals. The Dana 23 is the passenger drop version of that case and the internals can swap.
