Ford relay? a replacement? (aftermarket) some 30 amp are 20 amp and will burn up.
bad ground between truck and trailer.
intermittent connection. (power) to lights... causing small arcing and burning contacts in relay. recheck 7 pin trailer connector closely. both truck and trailer.
So, you way "blown again". Is that instantaneous or do the lights work a while and the relay goes up in smoke over time. It would be nice to establish the actual amp draw at the relay.
Quite honestly, I haven't towed in the dark since last year.
I just happened to check the running lights today and found them
"out." I replaced the relay and all is well at this time.
So at least you are saying it is not instantaneous, so if the problem continues you would be looking for a somewhat higher than average amp draw over time.
