If I purchase my wheels and tires online. Is there a way to purchase road side hazard warranty on those tires?

 

Drive by a discount tire and they will most likely sell you road hazard.

 

Will they sell it even if I didn't buy the tire through them?

 

They will provide a warranty, but where are you going to take them if there's a problem? Best find out ahead of time. The local tire folks won't want anything to do with you, if you didn't buy them from them.

Also inquire about the date codes on the tires before purchase. The online folks like to stick you with three year old tires, **** like that.

Then you need installation and balance. By the the time you're done, you may not have saved any money and if there's a defect or issue you're kinda SOL.

I bought a set of Toyo tires online. Great tires but when I had a warranty issue I was SOL with the place I bought them from. Next time I'll go to Discount Tire where I bought all the rest of my tires. (At the time DT wouldn't order Toyo for me)

 

Tire Rack has a deal with Mavis. Order on line, shipped to Mavis and installed by Mavis with warranty protection. Last tires I priced were not much less than the tire store I have used for 25 years. If I took them the price they would match it. Did that once before and saved a hundred bucks but I did not bother this time. They have always been good to me with any issues. Sometimes a good relationship is worth a couple of extra bucks.

 

Yes, it's a D.O.T. requirement, all tires since year 2000 have a four digit date code on the sidewall.

 

Lots of local shops will price match tires too. I know our dealership will. We'll take the tirerack price and add the shipping cost and bam. I would think most tire retailers would and you could buy the warranty from them and get the whole package done locally.

 

Frantz I am having my ford dealer install the tires. Does the ford dealership offer warranty on those tires? Does yours?
If so is it a ford warranty that's good at any dealer or is it local to that dealership only?

 

Yes they will. The warranty would be serviceable at any discount tire in america. Ive done it on every new ford i purchase. Guesstimates would put 4 tires around 300 bucks.

I've been using places like Costco, Sams and BJ's, (all membership stores) for years with great success.

The Ford dealers claim to not be beaten except for club prices however, it may be better to use the dealer as many dealers now offer tire warranty packages and you can get them rotated / balanced while your oil gets changed without having to shell out extra for the fuel saver service.

 

Generally we'll sell anything we can make a buck on. If its the dealership you bought from, ask your salesman to look into it for you. Of course if he's worth his grit he'll tell you to just put the money down on a new truck instead (-=
