2009 Ford Escape Door Ajar issue
I have a 2009 Ford Escape XLT 4cyl 4WD. I have determined that the car does not know the right rear door is shut and it appears to be a sensor in the latch mechanism. The instrument cluster shows which door it is and with all doors closed the notification is still there and the dome lights remain on.
I have already removed the door panel and located the mechanism in the door, but I do not know the proper procedure to remove it. Anyone able to help.?
I have already lubricated the latch and that did not resolve the issue.
Any information or possible resolutions are appreciated.

The switch is supposed to be closed when the door latch is closed, applying ground (gray-black wire) to the yellow wire at the connector. You may want to check that first as the exact same symptom can be caused by a wiring fault anywhere between the switch and the SJB or it could be an internal fault in the SJB so that the switch's state is not being detected. Personally, I'd get access to that yellow wire and ground it and see if the open door indication goes away before actually pulling the latch out. You might be able to easily get to the connector that's in the B-pillar, I don't know off-hand.
The four attachments should give you everything you need to get the latch assembly in and out.
Good luck, let us know what you find and how it turns out.
