Need Advice How to Run Ford 2002-2004 and 2005-2006 Service DVDs in Windows 10
Upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10 the other day and have been checking through my programs to determine any difficulties. I can load up the Ford Service DVDs and look at the service manuals. I can't see the wiring diagrams. Adobe SVG Viewer is required to see the wiring diagrams and it will not load in Windows 10. It loaded fine in Windows 7.
Anyone have any ideas on what I need to add in Windows 10 to see the wiring diagrams? And if anyone knows what modifications can be made to the Ford TSO software that would allow me to load the DVDs to my hard drive, that would be great. My version is 7.0 and the date on the disk is August 2005. And yes, you do need to reset your date on the computer before August 2005 to run the DVDs.
Any help is appreciated.

This isn't going to be much help, but unless you are running a touch screen... Why run 10? Win10 is a larger Kernel and for me, ran far slower on my laptop. I ran into several programs that I couldn't run (easily or at all) under 10, so the solution was to take them up on the 30 day: roll-back to 7 offer.
I will probably always have a PC that runs 7, so another option for you is to get a dedicated 7 pc...
Sorry, not a fan of 10

I don't know how to fix 10 (I don't run it and I'm not going there, too many privacy issues), but you can avoid changing your computer date all the time by using a program called RunAsDate. Just search for it, it's a freebie, and works well. As far as loading them to your hard drive, you can rip them to an iso file, then mount the iso file from your hard drive, and as far as the program is concerned, it's looking at the dvd.

want to seal with the date setback then get a copy of Run As Date.
Make a folder named "XX-XX Disk" inside the TSO folder where the Service Dvd was installed (Usually c:\TSO)
right click on the file "tsobrowser.ini" and select edit
(Make a copy of the file for safekeeping first)
Change the path string at the top of the file from this:
07_08=10.0~3~E:~stock\home.htm~2007-2008 Service Information~October 2006
To This:
07_08=10.0~1~C:\TSO\XX-XX Disk~stock\home.htm~2007-2008 Service Information~October 2006
basically this means you are redirecting the path from "E:\" (your DVD drive) to "C:\TSO\Disk"
Multiple Disk Example TSOBROWSER.INI FILE:
--------------------------------------------------------
[volumes]
default_volume=
always_show_volumelist=0
07_08=10.0~1~C:\FORD\TSO\07-08 Disk~stock\home.htm~2007-2008 Service Information~October 2006
00_04=01~1~C:\FORD\TSO\00-04 Disk~stock\home.htm~2000-2004 Service Information~February 2003
; Originally Looked Like This:
;[volumes]
;default_volume=
;always_show_volumelist=0
;07_08=10.0~3~E:~stock\home.htm~2007-2008 Service Information~October 2006
;00_04=01~3~E:~stock\home.htm~2000-2004 Service Information~February 2003
; volume types
; 0 - unkown
; 1 - fixed disk locations (with directory)
; 2 - unc share locations
; 3 - removeable media
; each installed volume has an entry in this section
; the name of the entry is the logical volume (like 92CAR)
; and tilda-separated values on the right are:
;
; version - a number/letter string,
; less than 8 characters, NO periods, trust me
; type - as described in the list above
; path - the physical path to the location where the volume.ini file resides
; the browser will use that instead of checking volume labels (since
; it is quite problematic with UNCs)
; home - the name of the home file which is used for that volume
; title - The title of the volume (human readable, it is used to tell one
; volume from another in the selector list).

I will attach this as a TXT file if FTE will let me
I stuck Run As Date in as a ZIP file with copy of tsobrowser.ini.TXT
Just drop the .TXT yo make it back into an INI file

Thanks to all of you for your comments. Here are my thoughts regarding your comments.
1. Windows 10. I either needed to upgrade to Windows 10 or do a clean install of Windows 7. There were software issues that caused the computer to run extremely slow and there were troubles with the browser, etc. My son and I upgraded two computers. Mine was difficult and another one in the house was easy. Most of the programs run properly and I'm changing the email program to Thunderbird. The few older programs that do not run properly on Windows 10, I already run under Virtual Box VM and they wouldn't run in Windows 7 either. My son tells me that he believes that the Ford Manuals will run under Virtual Box VM witch uses Windows XP. I don't really know much about the workings of Virtual Box but my son does so that may solve my SVG Viewer problem.
2. Why go to Windows 10? Sometime back, I met the son of the founder of the only remaining independent major bank in Texas. He told a story about how his father was against getting into the credit card issuing business. After a brief discussion of the topic, his father said, " I don't like the way the world is turning but I think I will turn with it." Enough said.
3. Sean's advice on how to put it on the hard disk. This is way to high over my head but I will see my son in Austin in a week and he will understand what you wrote and get it done. Thanks for the details - sorry it's over my head.
4. The last option is to buy a new knockoff DVD on Ebay for around $12 that will run on Windows 10. I only need the wiring diagrams so this might be the most expeditious fix.
If anyone has other thoughts, please post, Thanks.

The Ford DVD work best with Win XP Pro. That is what was out in the wild
when they were made. One easy sure fire way to know that they work is get
a really cheap laptop and stuff XP on it and you golden. I found when going
to Win 7 that my print to PDF program would not work correctly all tie time
and they had not made a update that seemed very stable at the time.
Also because I use the older IDS software that refuses to even run on Win 7
without a lot of tweaking I found it not worth my time to do that on the
Panasonic ToughBook I use for automotive stuff.

My disc came with the instruction that if you cant access the wring diagrams, you need to : Go to the DVD drive and view the files on the DVD.
Go to the folder named tools, then the adobe folder,
next choose Winnt,
From here, select the file named SVG view.
Run this file and it will reinstall the SVG viewer.
After it is installed, just go back into the service program and they should load fine.

I loaded the Ford Service DVD in iso form on my win 10 laptop expecting to have issues...but did not.
Install wincdemu to create a virtual drive of the DVD (you can use win10 but the drive letter may not be stable)
Mount the iso with wincdemu, choosing to give it a drive like V, and after mounting it you can choose to mount it automatically on reboot.
Go to Adobe and download Adobe SVG viewer 3.03
Install (it installed fine)
Go to your virtual drive V
Install program.
Fix your vehicle...

Yes, I can run it on my desktop and laptop in Windows 10. I loaded the DVD unto the laptop and run the DVD on the desktop, so both methods seem to work fine. That RunAsDate program is awsome. I had to always change my computer date before and thought somebody has figured out how to get around that. Sure enough project SHO89 responded to my inquiry with the solution. Thanks much to him as well!
