09 escape 2.5l not starting
When you turn the key on and try and start it it just makes a weird clicking noise but not like the starter is not engaging and is accompanied by the check brake system message on the dash after cycling the key trying to start it the only lights that show up are the battery light and the theft light. The radio, air conditioner, nothing works I tried turning the key just to the on position and after everything comes on for about 4 or 5 Seconds everything shuts off and only the battery light and the theft light are on. I've read other forums and can't find anything with the same problem just similar. so I'm wondering if it is the ignition or the ignition module any help is appreciated thank you in advance

I know on my 04 a low battery will do this. Headlights, blower fan, radio will all work. Turn the key to start and it just clicks. I see you say these work for a few seconds then shut off, which is odd. But, it's worth hooking up a charger to see if you can top off the battery. It's just about free if you already have a charger.

About 25 years ago i bought a very handy little gadget for 30 bucks, it's an Actron CP7612 battery load tester. Connect it to the battery, flip the switch and in a couple of seconds it tells me the condition of the battery.
If you dont have a way to test the battery about all you can do is remove the battery cables and clean the cable ends and battery posts. Remove the negative cable first & install it last.
Does it start now? If not just do as scott91370 sez & try charging the battery. If you dont have a charger, take the battery to a parts store & have them load test it.

I was glancing thru the CP7612 owner reviews at Amazon.com & one of the guys sez he tested a battery with the 7612 & it was totally dead. He sez he brought the battery back to life with a BLS12/24b battery desulphator and it now load tests just fine with the 7612
If anyone reading this has fooled around with a battery desulphator what kind of results did you get??
