Moving a power rear window from 2016 to 2016

Moving from a 2016 long bed to a 2016 short bed to fit a camper. Before I sell the long bed, I would like to move it's power rear window to the short bed. The short bed currently has a solid rear window and no switch on the ceiling console between the map lights like the long bed has.

The dealership selling me the short bed says they cannot do it. I plan to ask another dealership, but want to know if this is something that I can do. Also, would someone know if the wiring is already probably installed in the short bed - they are both 2016 xlt's with the xlt premium packages.

They are almost exactly alike except that the shortbed does not have the power rear window.

Thanks!

Chances are good the wiring is in place, but of course the motor, cable, and switch are not. Does the recipient truck have a blanking plate where the switch is supposed to go?

Thanks Wrvond,

I did notice a blank filler between the map lights where it looked like I could swap out the switch for the power window.

Seems like an auto glass company or body shop would be able to do a good job, but if it were too expensive, I'm just trying to figure out if it's something that I could do. Looks like it would involve removing the rear seats of both crew cabs along with much of the trim.

Do you think that it would require the removal of the head liner? If so, I'm doubting my ability to put the headliner back up and make it look like it was never touched.

I would expect to migrate the motor, cables and switch to the recipient truck.

I've read of other folks on the F150 forums doing the switch themselves with no issues. There's plenty of "how-to's" on rear window replacement available online as well.
I don't believe you have to remove the headliner to get the overhead console off. Since we are operating from the position that the wiring is probably already in place, that's all you should have to remove.
Worst case, you might have to install wiring, in which case you simply pull the leading edge of the headliner down enough for clearance, then run the wire down the 'A' pillar, under the carpet, and back to the motor. I should hope that even if the wire for controlling the motor isn't already present, at least the power leads should be.
I did install a dash cam in my truck (one camera front one camera rear), and running the wire from the rear view mirror to the back window through the head liner was the easiest part of the job.

Thanks for the clever idea of pulling wires through the headliner! That does sound pretty easy.

I found an auto glass company that would charge me to swap out the rear windows - fix up both trucks for $250.

Both are xlt with the premium xlt pkg. I do see from the window sticker on the recipient truck, that it has power/heated glass and signals in the mirrors. I read something that suggested that having that feature might mean that the defroster circuit/wiring would also be in place for the rear window.

I haven't removed any seats or panels yet to check the wiring. Before I do, can you think of any other resources that might be able to confirm that the wiring would be there in the truck with the fixed rear window?

Thanks!
