Alright well its been a long week of working on ny truck trying to get it running again. I changed the fuel filter and filled it. Went through and cracked a couple injectors and was getting preassure again but had to stop to let the batteries charge up again. So i tightend them and then went through and tried to start it again and she came close but didnt fire. So the next day same thing got preassure built up again good batteries and still didnt fire. Now my started just clicks and wont turn over. What is my problem? Starter? Vapor locked? Im at a loss. I have to get this truck movin again.

What color?

Hows your Glow Plugs, have you checked them?

Starter clicking is bad/dead batteries, bad connections, bad relays or bad starter.

Was getting some white smoke after it got primed. But then batteries went dead. Now with fully charged batteries its just a click from the starter

 

If you (or a helper) clicks and holds, somebody can observe the battery cables and solenoid & stuff related to see if anything is overheating electrically, or otherwise making itself obvious. That can be a bad situation to be in.

 

Solinoid on the fender clicks and the starter tries to engage and clicks. Even jumped the solinoid and still nothin.

 

Can you turn the engine over by hand using a large ratchet + extension + large socket (15/16ths on the gassers) applied to the crankshaft bolt? Gassers have a harmonic balancer there, no idea what a diesel operating on 30 yo technology would have there, might be the same.

But this kind of problem is gas-or-diesel independent.

 

White smoke is super heated fuel ... lack of sufficient heat ie Glow Plugs and/or Slow Cranking.

White smoke is good, that means you are getting fuel, just not enough heat to ignite it.
