starter issues, 157T flywheel and oldstyle bell housing.

I bought a super low mileage 1984 302, I got it mounted to my RUN STAND. the flywheel I is the correct one that came from this engine with 157 teeth. The only bellhousing I could come up with is a c5Ta-6394 , which is from an early Mach1 with 351W. the 1984 nine tooth starter will bolt to it, but does not engage the flywheel now. It Appears that this year bell would use either a larger gear on the starter or a different offset on the aluminum housing end?? any help appreciated - thanx , Crossy

C5TA will be a 164 tooth bell. 351's as a rule never got a 157 tooth bell. Don't know what you'd want an 84 302 for, but it's going to be a lo-po turd, no matter what it came from. Weak block, not much of a cam, weak crank, big chambered heads.

thanks, i'll keep that in mind. this is probably the 30th lo-po turd type engine I have had on this run stand and they all sold for good money.
I already had my answer from another thread and the 164T was the answer, and luckily I had a decent one here that was a 28Oz.

Wasn't the 1984 Mustang HO 302 an okay engine?
I thought it was the same as the '85 but with a flat tappet cam.
