Reason for wanting to use the original power steering pump is that it has odd ends I guess on the hoses. I read somewhere that people swapping in ford engines like to use gm pumps because it's the same ends. I need to find some comparative data from a 258.
Not sure where you're located but here in Dallas there are several shops that can build custom hoses with whatever ends you need. Usually for not much more than you would pay for OEM replacements depending on the material (i.e. not braided stainless hose).
That's true didn't think about that. Have plenty of agriculture supply places nearby. I may go with the stock 300 ps pump then. I kinda miss my old whiney ford pumps I've had.
