Broke it DANG!
Well, I broke a filament on the blower motor resister.
I tried to solder but couldn't find my third extremity to hold the solder while my other two hands held the soldering iron and part.
I used epoxy but will that melt? Do the filaments get hot enough to do that?

What kind of epoxy? JB-Weld is good to around ~500F, the blower resistors can get red hot.

That's what I was afraid of. uess I'll just have to melt off the epoxy and get some JB Weld.
Thanks Tedster, Todd.

Well, I dunno. It may be fine though doubtful. Maybe red hot is more than 500F as well. Why not just install a new one?

old test lead alligator clips (roach clip) works great to hold wires together for soldering.

I'd put a new one in. I'm guessing it's
this part or very similar. Probably a pita to do but it would be reliable. If there's no solder on the original, I wouldn't trust a solder repair.

Well it's not a high tech part, if it works, it's a good repair.

Not the same. Mine, only has the 3 prongs together. No 4th prong ( loner ).

Oh Mikes68F100!! Man I never even thought of those. It's been a long time since I used one of those, and it wasn't for soldering
I don't even think I have one laying around. What's a cheap chain ( Walmart, eg.. ) that would carry those?

You're probably right. I guess it depends on proximity and temp. How close to the joint the heat is and how hot it gets.
If I try the solder it will be close.
What size tip should I use?

The MP of solder and JB weld is well below red hot. Red hot steel is some figure well north of 1000º.

Yeah, 1000 degrees is when it STARTS to glow. By the time it's red it's already 1200 or more.

The only one I found close to mine is for an El Camino of same vintage. This is Bull Bleep. Why can't I find one?
