Looking fantastic, Bio! You're well down the homestretch now! I'm going to have to find an excuse to come to UT just to lay eyes on it in person!

WOOOOT!! DUSTIN FOUND THE SMOKING GUN! The external transmission wire harness has 3 wires in it that have chafed insulation, and if you jiggle it just right, they touch. He says he could repair those wires and reuse the harness, or replace it with a new one. I told him to replace it. It costs $275 from ford. It'll have to come in from out of state, so it'll be 2 or 3 days before I get the truck back!
Hooray!

I think that's a good decision replacing it. As much as you have into it now, make sure it's gonna last. Glad you (he) found the problem. Sometimes those electrical gremlins can be impossible.

That's excellent news - I'm sure that news was a relief.

What's left besides:
#1 Trimming the inner fenders
#2 Steps?

Going to miss this thread.

To the OP, saw this recently. Also in Utah. Looks like the Excursion version of your truck. I actually missed it the first time by, but my three boys all saw it and made me turn around to see it.

I think that is an 11-16 F250 or F350 that had the Excursion conversion. The company that does them will put in the stretch as an option.

Hey! I recognize that Ex! Thats the same one I ran into at the grocery store several months ago. It was built by splicing the front of a 6.7 powered F350 and the back of an excursion. I think it belongs to one of the owners of the StretchMyTruck shop. Take a look. Is it the same?

Dustin got the new trans wire harness last night, but it's not correct. The one they sent is for a truck with autoshift T-case (NP273, I think). I have a manual shift T-case (NP271) behind a 2WD transmission, so my old trans harness is for a 2WD.

Do you folks know if it will work for my application?

Dash 4x indicator lights won't work. I put a manual transfer case in my buddy's '03 and just left ESOF t-case wires disconnected, no issues other than no dash indicators. He didn't care, and is smart enough to know if it's in 2x, 4x, or 4x low...

No, surprisingly. This was in south Utah County.
