Missing piece of Oil Cooler screen

I was putting my new Oil Cooler kit in tonight and found the original screen under it was missing a section. I didn't see or feel it the cavity, or last night in the HPOP area when I did the STC fitting.

I've been careful about keeping it all clean from dirt and contaminants but what kind of damage can this screen do?

Get chewed up in the pump and stuck to the IPR screen, hopefully. Is the IPR screen updated?

I put all the new IPR pieces that came with my STC kit and the screen that was on the IPR looked like the new one from the kit I put on tonight...only clean. The old IPR screen that was in their had some small sand looking pieces on once of the sections. It wasn't caved in or damaged but had collected a little debris.

That debris you found was probably remnants of the screen. What's done is done and I wouldn't worry. I've seen them with hardly any screen left.

Okay that sounds good.

Just wanted to double check before I start putting it all back together again.

Nope never did find it. Had many oil changes since this repair and never seen anything unusual pour out of the drain pan or stuck in the old filter pleats.

But 3 years later of heavy 5th wheel towing across many states the truck still runs and drives great. I know the 6.0 doesn't get much love but it's treated me well. I have a coworker and talked to some campground neighbors I've met that spent some serious $$ on out of warranty 6.7L repairs so I have no plans to change anytime soon.

It looks like the plastic screen. It would have gotten munched up by the HPOP and the LPOP during the period of an oil change, debris never to b seen.
