So, my 06CC V10 likes to switch to the defrost at times while I'm towing, usually above 65mph, would that be a vacuum issue? Also, the truck seems to always have hot air blowing in to the cab somewhere from the fire wall, has anyone else had this issue and what fixed it? Lastly it seems to me that the steering wheel has a lot of play in it (left/right) before the wheels actually turn, should I tighten up the steering box, or is this normal. Thanks everyone.
If the Climate Control is vacuum controlled, don't know that year, then yes that's why. The CC system's default is defrost so if the vacuum drops too low to hold vent or floor position it'll switch to defrost. You might have a leak or some other problem or just be putting too much load on the engine for the available vacuum to hold the vent position.
Don't adjust the steering box without using the specs, it can make matters even worse. Have someone wiggle the steering wheel while you look at the components and see where the play is. Could be cumulative wear items with a little play adding up to a lot of play. And DON'T ADJUST THE BOX without knowing what you're doing. If the play is in the box get a rebuilt one and replace it.
Awesome, thanks. I'll look in to the vacuum system and a few smaller components of the front end. Any thoughts on that heat that's always entering the cab?
