TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS
OK WE BOUGHT A 1993 FORD F150 V8 5.0 TRUCK THAT IS HAVING SOME TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IT WILL NOT GO WHEN PUT IN "D" DRIVE WE HAVE TO PUT IT IN 2 OR 1 AND THEN YOU CANT GO BUT ABOUT 40 MPH, ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR KNOWS WHATS GOING ON?

what trans is in there? when the e40d wont go in the D position (feels stuck in the mud) but will start out in 2 in either manual 1 or 2 positions (reverse remains normal too) then it means the trans isn't getting power.
(dim,always on non flashing od cancel light - high gear start in D position)
with the idi diesel trucks,we always first suspect the ecm relay as it's only used for the trans.solenoid pack connector is another common suspect.
