I have have been thinking about getting the B&W 3500 companion , or is there a better one . I also have a Trail Air on me 5er . Some advice would be greatly appreciated .
I use the Anderson hitch and love it. Not sure how to post a thread on here but there is one all about that hitch. It's light weight and there is no chucking from the hitch when towing.
This is sort of like asking what is the best oil to use. Although, after doing a lot of research I switched my thoughts of getting the B&W to the Andersen. B&W makes a great product and if I were stuck on getting a traditional hitch, that is what I would get. Although, the versatility and the reviews about the Andersen cannot be ignored.
I have a old 20K Resse that's been pulling our 16K trailers for 15 years with only a jaw replacement and a few adjustments, its been a love hate deal but it's still doing its job.
This is the best.....heaviest.....and most expensive, so you just have to do some shopping or get a bank loan. I got mine used (only 3 yrs. old) for $1300 and paid $55 for the Ford factory Hensley hitch adapter, both on ebay. 5th wheel rides like a dream.

That thing is a beast!! I bet it stays in the bed 99% of the time.
Yea it is, 380 lbs. with the adapter, I pull it with my engine hoist and put it on a rollaway cart I built. Damn hitch lists for around $2900, couldn't have paid that much so I just kept looking till I found this one on ebay. The older gentleman than myself had some medical issues and really wanted to sell it....turned out he was a retired cop like me so he cut me a deal.
I've only pulled the 5th wheel a short distance with the new F350 dually and you really have to concentrate to feel the trailer back there. It just floats on the air bags, good for the truck and specially good for the trailer pin box structure where broken welds and stress cracks can occure.
I liked the concept of the Anderson but it wouldn't adjust low enough, so be sure to measure truck and 5th. The only other issue was the aluminum ball, steel would be stronger and more durable.
